Sports apparel giant Nike has depicted a major instance marking its magnitude in smart clothing market. The billion-dollar company has recently unveiled a brand-new portfolio of jerseys embedded with sensors, that are to be apparently used in the new NBA season. As per reports, this is Nike’s first penetration in the global smart clothing industry.
Nike’s new connected jerseys have been reportedly incorporated with NFC chips, that have been designed to permit the players to launch real-time team videos, inclusive of music playlists preferred by the players and pre-game arrival footages, merely seconds away from a touch on the smartphone screen. Nike aims to collaborate with the NBA league throughout the season, in a bid to bring forth a slew of exclusive offers for NBA fans. Nike’s initiative in this regard has been touted by industry experts as a vital move to expand its consumer base, in addition to consolidating its position in the U.S. smart clothing and body sensors market. Presently, Nike provides sports apparel for the Tottenham Hotspur club, Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain, and all the 32 teams within the NFL.
